In the Halloween story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, the church and it's churchyard set quite a spooky scene. This churchyard stands today next to The Old Dutch Church founded around 1685 in the town of Sleepy Hollow, NY. There you will find a bounty of 18th century gravestone winged soul effigy carvings. The winged soul effigy represents the flight of the soul from earth to heaven and the transition it makes on that journey. Seen on 18th century American gravestones this was a shift from the death's head skull to a gradual softening resembling angels by the later decades. This bracelet was directly inspired by these soul effigies of The Old Dutch Church.
